Provides the skills and underpinning knowledge required to undertake Crane Controller duties including:

• Describe how the Lorry Loader Crane is designed to function under normal operating conditions
• Describe what equipment calibration certificates and checks are required to comply with the relevant rules and regulations
• Describe what preparatory checks need to be completed on the machine including:
  • Pre-start checks / maintenance are complete / documented
  • Machine / Crane Controllers checklist is completed
• Describe the checks need to be completed on lifting accessories prior to use
• Briefly describe the main functions of all relevant controls available to the Driver/Operator
• Avoid the Lorry Loader Crane being placed in an unstable condition
• Demonstrate their ability to read a work / Lift plan and communicate its content effectively
• Correctly attach and use the lifting accessories to ensure a safe lift
• Control the movement of the Lorry Loader Crane taking into account:
  • Condition of the track
  • Cant
  • Gradient
  • Load height & Radius
  • Machine Sectors
• Describe what information needs to be given to the Driver/Operator and how to confirm the Driver/Operator understands the extent of the movement / lift.
