Our combined Highway Permissible Vehicle course focuses on the operation of the Road Rail Unimog and associated trailer attachment. The Unimog is ideal for use on both road and rail. Its powerful diesel engine, high-performance transmission, and all-wheel drive, allow the Unimog to haul loads of 140T on track.

This training course provides the skills and underpinning knowledge required to be able to undertake Machine Operating duties safely including:

• The necessary pre-start and pre-work machine functional checks
• The hazards
• Risks specific to operation
• Communication protocols
• Terminology and methods used to identify components
• The operation of the host machine and attachment
• Defect monitoring
• How to use the attachment safely
• The correct and safe methods of shut down isolate and secure
• The safe use of the host machine including travelling and working
• Actions to take in an emergency situation.
