Our combined Highway Permissible Vehicle course focuses on the operation of the Road Rail conversion of a John Deere Gator and associated trailer attachment. A John Deere Gator is capable of towing up to 4 trailers and is primarily used to transport personnel and tools on track.

This training course provides the skills and underpinning knowledge required to be able to undertake Machine Operating duties safely including:

• The necessary pre-start and pre-work machine functional checks
• The hazards
• Risks specific to operation
• Communication protocols
• Terminology and methods used to identify components
• The operation of the host machine and attachment
• Defect monitoring
• How to use the attachment safely
• The correct and safe methods of shut down isolate and secure
• The safe use of the host machine including travelling and working
• Actions to take in an emergency situation.
