DOTTS Newsletter – December 2023 – Issue 6

What have you missed? DOTTS round-up of activity, achievements and industry news

This month we are sharing updates on new OTP competencies that are available on Sentinel and also changes to existing competencies and what this now means for you.

RTAS 0462

Hand Trolley Controller (PTMP16)

From 4th December 2023, competence PTMP16 [Hand Trolley Controller] will become an industry wide Sentinel competence and can only be delivered and awarded by RTAS Assured Providers and Assured Trainers.

What does this mean for you?

As from 31st December 2024, any non-Sentinel competence certification presented to work on NRMI will NOT be accepted.

What are DOTTS doing to support this change?

DOTTS have applied to NSAR to have this competence awarded so we are able to deliver this training for you. DOTTS as a specialist Plant provider believe this fits nicely within our portfolio and as always DOTTS shall be providing an emphasis on practical activity utilising our Plant and Equipment on our Heritage Railway, making this as real to life as possible.

Getting dirty in Doveridge

November saw DOTTS invest into the purchase of a Hydrema Articulated Dumptruck 922F – capable of shifting copious amounts of material, which is very much needed to start shaping and forming our new 9 acre site in Doveridge. The ADT also sees us complete the mighty trio, joining our D61PXi Dozer and PC138 Excavator (fitted with 2RCi system) to now be able to offer out our unique “Site Ready” courses.

What does this mean for you?

DOTTS understand that for new red card operators it is difficult to obtain starts on jobs due to limited experience. DOTTS are selling time in the seat on our ADT or 360 to actually undertake real site work, helping you increase your operating hours, whilst receiving advanced training tips from a trainer who can talk the talk and walk the walk. Added bonus, DOTTS will endorse this for you and act as a reference for any future job applications.

There are two seasons in Scotland; June and Winter

This quote was said by a famous Scottish comedian – extra DOTTS bonus if you can guess who? Despite the typical Scottish weather, DOTTS have thoroughly enjoyed their stint of delivering a 5-week training programme for the NR Scotland Larbert team. The programme covered training for all things MEWPs, including the Hybrid machines, as well as the Unimog 423s and MEWP attachments.

Christmas also must have come early, as we were lucky enough to have had a sneak preview of the latest machines that NR Scotland have invested into. Hopefully we will have another opportunity to support the team in delivering further specialist OTP competencies in the new year; in the words of Martin Oakes “Little boys never grow up, the toys just get more expensive”. He is itching to have a play.
