During training courses, you will be shown how to:

• Perform all pre-start, running checks as well as shut down procedures
• Set up the roller for travel
• Be aware of on-site hazards
• Set the roller for compaction duties
• Place roller in an out of service condition
• Recognise compacted/uncompacted areas
• Identify and understand the conditions that may cause instability of the roller
• Safely proceed when working up to unsupported edges
• Perform the proper loading and unloading procedures on/off a transporter

End Point Assessment: Knowledge & skills you will be assessed on (theory / practical)

• Carrying out pre-start and running checks on machine
• Prepare the ride-on roller for travel
• Travel over different types of terrain, including undulating ground
• Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction
• Prepare exclusion zones
• Set the roller for compaction duties
• Working tasks, including compacting different materials to requirements
• Shutdown and secure procedure
• Explain loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
