During training courses, you will be shown how to:
- Perform all pre-start, running checks as well as shut down procedures
- Set up the roller for travel
- Be aware of on-site hazards
- Set the roller for compaction duties
- Place roller in an out of service condition
- Recognise compacted/uncompacted areas
- Identify and understand the conditions that may cause instability of the roller
- Safely proceed when working up to unsupported edges
- Perform the proper loading and unloading procedures on/off a transporter
End Point Assessment: Knowledge & skills you will be assessed on (theory / practical)
- Carrying out pre-start and running checks on machine
- Prepare the ride-on roller for travel
- Travel over different types of terrain, including undulating ground
- Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction
- Prepare exclusion zones
- Set the roller for compaction duties
- Working tasks, including compacting different materials to requirements
- Shutdown and secure procedure
- Explain loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
