NVQs at DOTTS

At DOTTS, we specialise in NVQ’s for Plant and Lifting Operations across both the Construction and Rail sector. Our NVQ’s are accredited by Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and allow Operators to progress from a TRAINED status “red card” to a COMPETENT status “blue card”.

NVQ’s can be used throughout your career and can be taken to all employers to demonstrate knowledge, credibility, competency and skill. It also demonstrates ability to work to the recognised industry standards such as CPCS and Sentinel.

We offer assessment and certification throughout the Midlands and Nationwide. Our assessors are time-served operators in both the Construction and Rail industry with proven backgrounds and remain operational to ensure they support newly qualified operators as best as possible.

How are NVQs achieved?

NVQs work by testing your abilities in the workplace and to complete an NVQ you need to prove that you can do certain work-related tasks.

They can be assessed in a combination of ways:

  • By portfolio – you build up evidence of what you’ve done at work;
  • and by observation – an assessor watches you work and checks that you can do the tasks.

The system is right for candidates who already have skills and want to increase them, but also for those who are starting from the beginning.

Did you know that we offer intermediate and advanced training days at our work site that contribute towards your NVQ portfolio, whilst addressing any unit/skills gaps?
