During training courses, you will be shown how to:
-
Identify the risk associated with skip configuration and negotiating restrictions
-
Identify the key components of the machine, for their purpose and correct operation
-
Carry out basic maintenance and fault finding to enable correct operation
-
Undertake correct start-up procedures, including all safety and function tests, and prepare to work
-
Locate correct information from Operators manual
-
Manoeuvre the articulated body without risk of collision with obstructions
-
Manoeuvre the machine in forward and reverse through obstacles and over rough terrain
-
Position the machine correctly to receive material
-
Transport the material at the correct speeds to match the ground type
-
Position machine correctly for unloading (for fill purposes), including inclines
-
Work with other machines efficiently and safely i.e. Dozer and 360
-
Identify when diff locks are needed
-
Identify the risks associated with travelling on wet or soft ground and how to recover the machine in the event of it being unable to move (bogged down)
-
Undertake correct shutdown procedures (machine dependent)
End Point Assessment: Knowledge & skills you will be assessed on (theory / practical)
- Pre-use, start, running checks and close down procedure
- Travelling and manoeuvring, including;
- Travelling up and down the slope
- Stop and start on slope in both up and down direction
- Driving through a restriction
- Travel over rought terrain
- Setting up for work and working tasks, including;
- Positioning the dump truck to receive loads
- Establish communication with the loading machine operator
- Receiving a load which fills the body to capacity
- Discharging a load into the edge or excavation
- Forming a stockpile
